Downspout Management

Request a Call Back

One major source of water, which is often overlooked, is rain gutter downspouts.

Managing downspouts is an important element of our comprehensive approach to keeping basements dry. It ensures that a major source of water near your home is directed away, where it disperses harmlessly from a bubbler pot. Additionally, downspout management eliminates hoses and pipes from running across your yard or driveway, creating trip hazards as well as obstacles to lawn mowers and automobiles. Downspout management gives your home a neat and orderly appearance. By eliminating unsightly surface pipes and hoses, you improve your home’s curb appeal and help keep destructive water where it belongs, away from your basement.

The roof of your home collects a great deal of water, every time it rains, sending it through the downspouts to drain right next to your foundation. The common fix for this problem is the installation of extensions. They can be store-bought splash trays that don’t move the water very far or home-made contraptions consisting of pipes and hoses running across lawns and driveways. These stop-gap methods are marginally effective but require removal to mow the lawn or shovel snow. Many times the extensions are crushed by foot traffic or vehicles making it necessary to constantly replace them.

We treat this condition in a very simple and inexpensive way. We will install our standard evacuation pipes used in our basement waterproofing system, in the ground, and capture the downspout water for removal. Rain water doesn’t see daylight until it is well away from your house. Additionally, it will not be necessary to move pipes or extensions every time they are in the way or become damaged.

The downspout management system can even be combined with a basement waterproofing system for a multifunctioning streamlined installation.

The ultimate goal is to move water away from your home as quickly and effortlessly as possible.
